I am an admitted student and am struggling to figure out a way to pay for this great, but expensive education. The costs per year are around $50,800, as stated by the WPI website. I received $7,500 of help each year, leaving me with $43,300 to cover per year. My parents have a high income but no money saved for my college education whatsoever. They have a house and a car to pay off and several medical bills (I recently fractured a bone). They could be able to contribute $1000/month for my education. Up to date, I have received no other external scholarships. Therefore, assuming I can get a job for 8$/hour, working 20 hours a week, I would make $8,320 per year. That leaves me with $22,980 of loans per year, a total of $91,920
for my four-year B.S degree. Has anyone ever actually gotten a loan this large and managed to pay it off?? I would waste tens of thousands of dollars on interest payments to banks.
How are you paying for this education??? And is it really worth all that money? |
